Well, it’s all over for now, but we will be back! Thank you to everyone that came and made our first reunion a huge success.
Final Preparations
With a week to go now until the start of our festivities, I just wanted to update on a few things;
The reunion is at the Normandy Hotel in Renfrew. Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/d8yUrGiNu6K2 Postcode for Satnav: PA4 9EJ
Travelling by car from the East, come off the M8 at J26 (which is immediately after J25a for Braehead), turning right at the roundabout; coming from the East, take J27, turning left onto Arkleston Road, then right at the roundabout.
We kick off at 12pm next Friday (the 12th), with a meet & greet, in the Elm Suite. Tea, Coffee & a light snack will be served at 12:45, and we’ll get things going around 1pm. Dress code is smart casual. Dinner will be served in the Cedar suite.
The Elm Suite and Cedar Suite are both next to each other. When entering the reception area, the main bar is to your left, and the lifts are to the right.
To get to the reunion, go towards the lifts, and follow the corridor around them. Follow the corridor all the way to the end (up a few steps, and around 2 corners).
Looking forward to seeing you all next week!

Save The Date
The survey responses are in, and we’ve now checked the calendar to find the best time to hold the first reunion… (Drum-roll please)…
The 2016 Porter Homecoming will be from Friday 12th to Sunday 14th of August.
Survey progress and clan roots
Well, the survey is coming along nicely, with 20 families responding, and a total of around 44 people planning to attend so far. If you haven’t filled it in yet, there’s still some time left. You can access the survey here.
In response to a recent email discussion with Catherine Hall, who was asking about the clan affiliation, the Porter family is a sept (an affiliated family) of the MacNaghten clan. Porter comes from the French ‘Portier’, meaning gatekeeper or doorkeeper, and is not linked to the Porterfield clan.
Our clan crest is a castle embattled, Gules, and our motto is ‘I hoip in God’ (or ‘I hope in God’ in English). Our clan chief is Sir Malcolm Francis Macnaghten, 12th Baronet of Bushmills House.
The tartan is available in a number of setts – including a white dress, and new green hunting. The main tartan is a red sett with blue, black, and green stripes.
Hello world!
